Clubhouse, a voice only, iOS only, Testflight only, 5000 users only, invite-only social app launched in April 2020 and scored $100M valuation with $12M investment from Andreessen Horowitz that same month. Unprecedented. It had 600,000 users as of Jan 1st, 2021 and ~2.5M as of Jan 23rd, 2021(1M weekly active users). Mindblowing growth in 3 weeks. Investors are gathering once more to lead the $1B new round now. So let’s talk about it a bit.

It created a FOMO. They got the biggest names in the Valley to sign up, create rooms and talk. The next month they got celebrities…

* in their everyday life

Take a guess 🧐. According to various research, the number fluctuates near 600. Let’s look at virtual platforms though. The average Linkedin connections are 930 (I have 2719), where the average Facebook friends are 338 (I have 786). I’m skipping twitter/insta and etc. as they use different wording (followers) which displays a different relationship. Why the dramatic hike in Linkedin connection?

“It’s easier & less awkward to add strangers on Linkedin. It’s not personal, just for work, right?”

Right. I’ve heard massive variations of the above statement. And it’s true. …

Mank or the 2nd movie in 2020 by a fav director you’d have to watch at least twice to understand.. or love. Although let’s be honest, you don’t have to watch Mank twice. You just have to know the characters, backstory, have seen Citizen Kane (and loved it) and be fascinated about old Hollywood and its tales.

Ok, so I started watching Mank. 10 minutes in — my head was hurting, 30 minutes in — I wanted to sleep. I wasn’t getting the hang of it. I didn’t know who these people were. Was I supposed to? This all happened…

2020 Box Office: “Numbers are down, we’re going broke 😫”
Chris Nolan: Makes a movie you have to watch twice to understand 😎

But is it worth watching twice?

I just want to make this super clear. Nolan’s Tenet is not hard to understand because it’s super-deep or super-smart. It’s hard to understand because the movie is extremely loud at times and people are murmuring rather than talking (if you watch this in translation — you’ll get a better experience as they explain pretty much everything from A to Z). Netflix’s DARK is much, much more complicated and twisted.

I…

Woah!

Sex is good and all but have you ever tried to watch a movie, believed it’d be ok and like 3 minutes in realized that it’s one of the best coming-of-age tales ever? Yeah.. that’s a phenomenal feeling, that I get to experience rarely.

- I should just be able to drive 5 mins or so, go inside a clinic, hand them some $500 get the procedure and be going my way. I shouldn’t be here. I shouldn’t have to drive through 3–4 states, 150kms, spend $2K+, got busted by the police, lose the car, get practically abducted by…

The Babysitter 2 or the art of making sequels

There’s smth really special about The Babysitter and The Babysitter 2. I cried during the end of the first film and laughed my ass off during the middle. It had all range of emotions packed into it and execution was top-notch.

The sequel was on-par, trust me. It’s not a secret that I’m a huge fan of the trash genre, when a movie doesn’t take itself too seriously and just wants you to have fun. This is what it was. …

Yellowstone is better than GOT, Breaking Bad, and Sopranos to me.

I’m so glad THIS is my first review in 4 months and not Tenet although I planned otherwise. Yellowstone is like Godfather, but better. Characters, dialogue, script and story, music, fights — everything is top-notch. I don’t think there’s another show that I loved during all of its seasons.

If anyone’s wondering, Rip Wheeler is my ideal of a man (I like clean shaved guys tho) 😁 Beth Dutton is someone I wish I was like. John Dutton is a legend. They explored more backstories, more secrets, more drama…

It’s a must-see!

Little Fires Everywhere: An ode to motherhood or a miscast wreck?

Never have I ever started to write a review and not actually know where to start from. I really don’t. One thing for sure though — I really wanna become Reese Witherspoon when I grow up. I know I won’t. I don’t have the stamina, determination, and strength of character like her but I still do want to. She’s a phenomenal filmmaker. Yes, filmmaker.

Little Fires Everywhere is about motherhood above all else. I don’t know what that is but I have opinions. Had.

As is the case with…
