… or when emotions matter

I have an internal moviemeter that let’s me know if films or cartoons, especially cartoons are good. If I cry during any part if it, it’s definitely a good one.. Though not a guarantee. But if I don’t it’s almost always bad. Emotions matter. Big time. And it doesn’t matter if it’s a comedy or drama. If the story, pace and acting is coherent & cohesive enough. If it flows seamlessly, if there’s a good character development, my emotional triggers usually notice it. The sublte ones, especially.

How to train your dragon 1 was a fantastic animated film. It was genuinely awesometacular! (cried)

How to train your dragon 2 was an unbelievable sequel. It was top notch. I remember I liked it even more. (cried)

How to train your dragon 3 was … okay. And by being okay, it’s actually bad🙄. When you’re a culmination to the best cartoon trilogy, you HAVE to be a fuckin masterpiece. It wasn’t. If you’re just seeing this without knowing about the first 2 films it might be good for you. The animation and the hidden world itself were eyegasmic 😍. BUT what was the freakin story here?? The Light Fury was boring. Beautiful but blank. She was a drawing. She didn’t have a soul, a purpose. She was just pretty and that did zero justice to the story. She was just a major distraction. The dynamics between the characters were plain. There was no passion, no drama, no edge. Just pretty things.

eh 😐
