Ok, I have a serious soft spot for challenging coming-of-age stories. Like a legit mental boner đ. Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, Wonder, Little Miss Sunshine, Moonrise Kingdom, Gifted, Captain Fantastic, Little Women, Stand By Me and the whole lot of Stranger Things đ„°. I donât know. When I was a kid everybody kept telling me that when I grow up I wonât see things the way I saw them then, that it will be different and that I will forget how I saw the world back then. Well.. I think itâs safe to say that I did grow up. And while, some things and views on things definitely changed, I didnât forget how I felt about those back then. I remember vividly. And though I mightâve changed my ideas I still see the reasons behind those old ideas I had. And this is exactly why Jojo Rabbit got me on a deep, personal level. Itâs a fantastic story about a young boy with beliefs about things who gets challenged to change those beliefs.
If you find any more of those letters, will you let me know?
The subtle human interactions were the best. The part where Scarlettâs character impersonates the kidâs father telling him to take care of his mother whoâs doing her bestâââwas really touching. The part where Sam Rockwell sacrifices himself was â€ïž
The friendship that grows between a boy who thinks himself as a Nazzi and a young jewish girl and the paths both take towards each other is just đđ„șđ
This movie couldâve been the yearâs best for me, far surpassing Ford v Ferrari if it didnât have one minor flaw.
And that is that they show as if Americans won World War II. Iâm 100% pro-American but my heart just canât take it. Despite being an extremely flawed system it was the Soviet Union that won the war and lost millions of brave men and women in doing so. I know this is a satire. But I just canât overlook it. Sorry.
Overall Jojo Rabbit is a phenomenal movie and will definitely be on my TOP2019 list đ
