La Casa De Papel by NETFLIX
I mean.. WTF People??? 😩
Ok. No. I’ll start at the beginning. After watching almost all of Pedro Almodovar’s films in Spanish as well as some very good Latin American films (kudos to Relatos Salvajes 🤠) I stumbled upon this one. I mean.. I need to learn Spanish so gotta hustle any way I can and there are very, VERY few Spanish movies/TV shows out there that are both in Spanish and with Spanish subtitles which is vital for a language learner. So yeah.. La Casa De Papel (“House of Paper” in literal translation, “Money Heist” in US localization). Srsly if not my desire to learn the language I would’ve quit the series after the 1st episode. There’s no chance I’d go further. I even did quit somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd seasons as the frustration was simply unbearable🥵.
Well, as I was obviously stuck watching it, I knew I had to review it one time or another so from Episode 1 I started noting down every plot hole. Somewhere during the 4th Episode I saw that I’ve already written down about 117 of those notes. I quit writing those down and made a firm decision to quietly watch the show and never review it. Look at it as a Spanish assignment. 😑
But I can’t. Solo no puedo hacerlo, lo siento. 🤷🏻♀️
It’s an awful TV show with an awful plot, annoying characters, stupid moves, bad writing and unbearable premise. Couldn’t find just one good thing about it. And just for the sake of this review I picked one random episode, say Episode 1 of Season 4 and started making those notes about every “plot hole”. I wrote down 6 plot holes in just one episode. C’mon screenwriters! That’s just lazy writing 😐. I can pretty much make a bet with anyone on $100 that I can find 5+ major fuckups in any given episode.
Now some spoilers and dissection into the characters:
Professor — Hated him from the first scene until the last. First, he has a bullshit name. Thinks too highly of himself. Has serious social issues. Maybe autistic. But then suddenly changes character, falls in love and etc. Then becomes a major crybaby in season 4. His extravaganza acting is just too much. Normal people don’t act like that. Though there’s no one who even slightly resembles a normal human being here.
Inspectora Raquel Murillo — Honestly liked her at first. Seemed like maybe the only one from Police who gets what’s going on. Untiiiiil they make her fall in love with the Professor. From then on — weak, pathetic loser who makes unbelievable mistakes.
Denver — Would shoot him in the head just for his annoying laughter. Acts bizarre. Pretty much a bonehead and a loser but gotta be honest, he seems rather ok in later episodes.
Tokio — Just fuckin’ kill her. Annoying. Ruins everything. Bad fighter, bad thinker. Zero leadership. Crybaby.
Rio — A lot of bad things. Mostly — a massive PUSSY. Cries, laughs, cries, laughs, cries, laughs.
Nairobi — The only one with decent character development. Hated her attitude and voice in the first season. Became a rather good one in the later episodes, of course, not counting some major fuck ups and stupid mistakes. But everyone here makes those, so 🙄.
Berlin — How can people like him? I mean srsly this is the part where my mind just gets blown 🤯. He’s a fuckin’ rapist. Are you guys insane? He raped the hostage in the first season.
Helsinki — Somewhat tolerable. Not developed enough.
Monica/Estocolmo — I mean what? Say again? Whatever happens to her is just laughable the least.
Arturo — I was actually rooting for him when he was organizing a “prison break” for hostages. But overall a pussy of a character. I don’t get his point. Nor do I get what he’s doing in the last season.
Palermo — Laughable. He’s a caricature. People don’t behave like that.
Inspectora Alicia Sierra — Acting is horrible but I like that she has some brains at least.
Police and Spain Government — WTF? Do you honestly want me to believe that a whole Spain PD and Government are that stupid?
La Casa De Papel seems like a watery imagination/dream of a pathetic crack addict who’s a loser in life and wants an escape and people to hang out with.
