Zombieland: Double Tap by Ruben Fleischer
Zombieland 2: The Best Sequel Since T2?
Ok. First of all. Like.. go see it in cinemas.. like right now dude, ok? Just purchase the tickets right away and then return to this review. I’ll wait. I’m waiting, not goin’ anywhere. Promise.
Did you buy them? Ok then let me get into the details then.
The first Zombieland was a revelation. It was awesome, phenomenal, it introduced a “new touch” to the zombie genre and we didn’t have Walking Dead series then. The genre was on the spike. But it was hilarious and masterfully crafted comedy. I think it might have been Emma’s breakout role.
Now when they make a sequel 10(!!!) years later your expectations kinda hit the ceiling. I mean, 10 fuckin’ years you’ve been working on this. The content, the story better be perfect or we riot. That’s your mentality. But at the same time you kinda know that 99% of sequels fail and 10 years is a long time and they might have lost the chemistry and combine that with Ruben Fleischer who directed a horrible Venom + the fact that zombie genre is boring now and Walking Dead is not watchable anymore and lalala. Well.. you get the idea. You become scared. What if they ruin this experience for me?
Holly Motherfuckin’ Shit THEY DID NOT. The script is mind-blowingly good. I laughed like during the majority of the bits and some scenes even got me worried. The acting was fantastic again BUT #ZoeyDeutch stole the show. I don’t know who she is but she nailed her role. It’s an extreme rarity that a “dumb blonde” doesn’t come off as annoying but rather funny and enjoyable. Every scene with her is hilarious and I’m sure there’s gonna be a youtube compilation with her scenes. The bit with UBER was super-smart.
There’s another fantastic one with Piza tower. Not gonna spoil it but that’s a Zombie Kill Of The Year worthy material.
Just go see it ok?
Grab your boyfriends/girlfriends and go see it. You’ll have a blast!! 😆😂😎
